Oh, The Places You’ll Go

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So get on your way!” – Dr. Seuss, Oh The Places You’ll Go

When I told my best friend I would take her graduation pictures in August 2015, I don’t know what I had been thinking. I didn’t own a camera. I wasn’t close to owning one. As a matter of fact, I didn’t get a camera until June 2016. I didn’t really start using it until November 2016. I didn’t quite understand aperture, shutter speed, or start using different modes until April 2017.  Fast forward to May 2017, she’s an MSW graduate and I’m the person behind the camera capturing her memories. She believed in me and my goals.

Photo editing: Uh, that’s a no. Everything is a work in progress and I’m still learning. I purchased Adobe Lightroom editing in April and STILL have NO CLUE how to use it appropriately. Youtube and my research hasn’t helped, which is weird because it doesn’t typically take me this long to figure things out. I hope Adobe Lightroom for Dummies is a thing because I need that. Three out of the six pictures posted were edited with VSCO app.

Equipment: Same ol’ Canon T6. 50 mm lens. I upgraded to a 50 mm (light years better than the standard lens) back in April; however, it can be a hassle to shoot with because there’s no zoom. I’m eager to get new zoom lens.

  1. Thank you Merline for your support and dedication to capture this momentous memory. Of course I believed in you! What else was I supposed to do? You’re well on your way. I am enjoying watching you crack out of your shell.
